Green Mark Vodka: A Russian Wheat Vodka With a Latvian Label Origin on File

Green Mark launched in 2003, and its name refers to the Russian standard for vodka, known in Russian as Zelyonaya Marka, Difford's Guide says. By Impact's data, Green Mark was third in the world by vodka sales volume in 2011, at 8.91 million decaliters, after Smirnoff and Absolut, Retail.ru reported.

Green Mark's recipes and packaging

The Russian Alcohol Group decided in 2001 to produce a vodka to traditional quality standards and rediscovered the old, lost Glavspirttrest recipes, a 2020 about-drinks.com article citing the importer BORCO says. The label carries a silver and gold foil panel resembling an official seal with an individual bottle number, and the neck features three wheat ears, Difford's Guide notes. Roust's in-house design studio in London developed a 2015 redesign with a wax-seal hang tag, following earlier redesigns in 2007 and 2011, Sostav.ru reported. Mass shipments of the new pack in Russia and 30 foreign markets were to start in 2016, the site added.

What Roust and its importer say goes into Green Mark

Green Mark Wheat is made of Luxe grade wheat alcohol and soft water from an artesian well 150 meters deep, and Green Mark Cedar is infused with cedar nuts matured for 10 days, Roust's website says. The vodka is produced from 100% wheat from the Volga region in central Russia and is silver and platinum filtered, the about-drinks.com article says.

Green Mark in the United Kingdom and Germany

First Drinks launched Green Mark in the United Kingdom with 2 million pounds of starting marketing investment and listings at Tesco, Morrison's, ASDA, and Waitrose, Retail.ru reported.

In Germany and Austria the vodka is distributed exclusively by BORCO-MARKEN-IMPORT, about-drinks.com says. Roust presented Russian Standard, Parliament, and Green Mark at the 85th International Green Week in Berlin in January 2020, Roust says.
