Loup River Distilling: The St Paul, Nebraska Distillery Behind Loup Valley Vodka

Loup River Distilling was started in 2016 by Eric and Maria Montemagni to make grain-to-glass corn-based spirits rooted in their family farm in Nebraska's Loup River Valley, the distillery's website says. The distillery turns locally grown corn, barley, and rye into its vodka, gin, and whiskey, the tour page adds.

What Loup River Distilling makes

Spring Creek flows through the ranch where the corn for Spring Creek Whiskey is grown, and the Good Life name was chosen for the gin to represent all that Nebraska has to offer, the products page says. Corn is harvested, mashed, fermented, distilled, and aged for the whiskey, the about page says, summing up the approach as growing the corn, crafting the spirits, and pouring each bottle. The line also includes Howard Hooch, an unaged whiskey, a Straight Rye Whiskey, and a Nebraska Straight Bourbon Whiskey, the website says.

How Loup Valley Vodka is described

Loup Valley Vodka is distilled to an ultra-pure finish with a subtle character meant for cocktails, and the vodka page suggests it neat, in a martini, or mixed into a drink. The same page describes stainless steel and copper stills as the engine room that purifies the mash, and rows of American white oak barrels waiting at the distillery.

Visiting the tasting room in St Paul
