Barton Vodka: A Bardstown Distillery Name and the Label Origins on File

The Sazerac product catalog gives Barton Vodka a country of origin of the United States and the subdivision Kentucky. The label approvals on file tell a more varied story, with the label origin on file shifting several times between 2023 and 2026.

Where the Barton name comes from

Oscar Getz was a Chicago businessman who had been in the whiskey brokering business, and in 1933 he and his brother-in-law Lester Abelson went into the whiskey business under the company name Barton Brands, Alcohol Professor wrote in 2014. In 1944 the Tom Moore Distillery in Bardstown was renamed The Barton Distillery, the same feature said. The distillery returned to its old name in 2008 and became the Tom Moore Distillery again, and it has since been renamed the Barton 1792 Distillery, according to Alcohol Professor. The 1792 Bourbon website says the distillery was established in 1879 and is the oldest fully-operating distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky.

How Barton Vodka is made

Barton Vodka is 80 proof, or 40% ABV, is distilled four times, and carries the ingredient statement Grain, the Sazerac product catalog entry for the 750ml size says. The same entry gives the ingredient name Blend-Grains, lists 16.907 servings per package, and tells buyers to store it in a cool dry place or refrigerate after opening. It lists a PET package with a screw cap. The entry's product activity field records assembly in the United States.
