Western Son Vodka: A Pilot Point, Texas Distillery Bought by Sazerac

Western Son was born in 2011, when a group set out to break free from the corporate world, the brand's website says. Splash Beverage was reportedly in talks in 2023 to buy Western Son's owner, JEM Beverage Management Company, and the deal fell through, Food Dive reported.

Where Western Son vodka is made

The Western Son distillery is in Pilot Point, Texas, the company's website says. The site says its vodka is 10X distilled and that all of its vodkas are made with real fruit. The same website says the company has two campuses. Texas-based Western Son produces a range of flavored vodkas in addition to distilling a gin, Food Dive reported.

Who owns Western Son now

Sazerac acquired Western Son Vodka and Distillery for an undisclosed amount, Food Dive reported on 6 October 2025. The deal built on Sazerac's purchase of Svedka Vodka from Constellation Brands the previous year, when Sazerac also bought Texas-based BuzzBallz, the same publication said. In Sazerac's release announcing the purchase, CEO Jake Wenz said Western Son provided an opportunity to augment Sazerac's portfolio while adding production capacity and capabilities to its network.

In the same snapshot, Black Swan Beverage Company, LLC of Denton, Texas filed approvals dated 27 September 2022 to 20 June 2023, also listing Texas as the label origin on file.

Buffalo Trace Distillery of Frankfort, Kentucky filed Western Son approvals dated 28 May to 9 July 2026 that list Ireland as the label origin on file, the TTB snapshot shows.
